10. JTR Jewelry Design Competition – Finalist
I was selected as a finalist in this competition and presented my design to the jury, although I did not receive an award. The theme of the competition was the grandeur of Ottoman harem culture. In Ottoman architecture, domes and intricate geometric details hold a significant place, while the tulip motif was widely used in decoration and patterns. During the period known as the “Tulip Era,” this motif appeared extensively in architecture, wall decorations, textiles, carpets, fabrics, and miniature art. Due to its elegance and symbolic meaning, the tulip became an essential element of Ottoman aesthetics, representing grandeur and refinement, especially in harem and palace decor.
In this context, I designed a pair of earrings using the golden ratio with a modern interpretation. My design translates the Ottoman harem aesthetic and the historical significance of the tulip motif into contemporary jewelry, offering both aesthetic value and a modern perspective on cultural heritage.
